Energy Efficiency
Visualize and reduce energy inefficiencies across your water system.
Gain actionable insights into how energy is used—and wasted—across your network. The Energy Efficiency plugin helps you spot inefficiencies, prioritize asset upgrades, and test operational changes to reduce unnecessary energy use.
Measure and visualize the energy performance of your network, from pipes to tanks. Make data-driven decisions to optimize energy consumption, lower operational costs, and increase sustainability—without compromising service quality.
Get a complete energy efficiency score: Measure how efficiently your network operates with the Energy Efficiency Score —a ratio of the energy injected (via sources, pumps, and tanks) to the energy consumed in the network. A higher score means a more efficient system.
Understand energy use per volume: See how much energy is used to deliver each cubic meter (or cubic foot) of water. Identify inefficiencies, take action to reduce them, and decrease your operating costs.
Spot inefficient assets: Access a ranked list of your most energy-inefficient pipes, valves, and tanks, with critical inefficiencies flagged for quick identification. For pipes, inefficiency is also normalized by length, and you can download a CSV report of the 20 least efficient assets for deeper analysis or planning.
Visualize energy loss: Locate where energy is dissipated across your network with a clear, color-coded layer. Pipes are shaded from green to red based on energy loss, while tanks and valves display a halo when losses exceed critical thresholds.
Simulate operational changes: Test how changes in pressure zones or PRV setpoints impact energy consumption. Use this in combination with pressure or zoning plugins to find the most energy-efficient configurations for your network.
Evaluate investments: Assess whether new assets like pumps or PRVs will reduce energy loss. Model the impact of infrastructure changes—including housing developments or data centers—on your overall energy efficiency.
Make smarter, data-driven decisions: By understanding how energy flows through your system, you can reduce waste, improve performance, and plan long-term network improvements more effectively. Support both economic and environmental sustainability.
Network Efficiency Score: Measure the ratio of energy delivered to energy consumed throughout network, resulting in a network efficiency score ranging from 0 to 100.
Asset Efficiency Rankings: A ranking list of the three most inefficient assets, if any, for each type of dissipating asset (pipes, valves, and tanks).
Map Visualization: See pipe energy loss through a color-coded map layer ranging from green (low) to red (high). Valves and tanks show a colored halo when energy loss becomes critical.
