Qatium is pleased to announce that Dr. Saša Tomić, an internationally recognized expert in the water industry, is joining the company’s advisory board to help shape the company’s product vision.

I was lucky to be there when the water modeling industry was created and with Qatium I can help the industry accelerate its digital transformation.”

Saša is an award-winning architect of leading hydraulic modeling software, a trusted digital transformation adviser to water utilities, and a recognized industry pioneer. Currently serving as the digital water lead at Burns & McDonnell, he also held product leadership roles at Innovyze and Bentley Systems.

In addition, Luke Butler, an internationally-known figure in the water modeling industry and recognized contributor to the open source software community, is also joining the company as Qatium’s Director of Innovation.

Luke’s remit is to help Qatium’s development team execute on it’s open product roadmap and accelerate the company’s efforts to digitalize the water industry.

“Developing open and innovative tools for the water industry has been the most impactful and enjoyable way I’ve been able to contribute back to the water industry,” says Butler. “The team at Qatium shares this passion and by joining I knew I could work with a team of like-minded experts and play my part in the digital transformation of the hydraulic sector.”

Through its collaborative platform and innovative approach to water management, Qatium is opening up a set of tools that were previously only available to a select few.

Qatium represents a fundamental change in the way hydraulic information is accessible and is set to be a disruptive force in the water industry.

Saša TomicSaša is an award-winning architect of leading hydraulic modeling software, a trusted digital transformation adviser to water utilities and a recognized industry pioneer.

He was the lead developer and patent author for Bentley’s GEMS platform and product manager of Innovyze’s water distribution products.

Saša combines 30 years of experience in software development and data analytics in the water industry, leveraging his advanced degrees in civil engineering and computer science to help water utilities use digital twin solutions to become more efficient. 

Currently he is the digital water lead at Burns & McDonnell where he crystallizes the vision for digital transformation of water industry by integrating the big data (GIS/SCADA/IoT/remote sensing/etc.) and analytical tools (hydraulic and statistical models/machine learning/AI/optimization/etc.) into actionable water utility decision making platforms.

Luke ButlerLuke has over ten years of experience within the water industry and has held technical engineering roles at a water authority in Melbourne, Australia, as a senior engineer at a U.K. consultancy in Scotland, and as an independent consultant specialising in water modelling in Canada.

A graduate of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, Luke is the creator of multiple free and open source water software solutions, that allow water utilities and consultants to automate the building, calibration and use of clean water models.
